| The story
behind the saying: |
|
Fern Carness is a
founding member of Pink Phoenix, an American dragon boating
team comprised of breast cancer survivors. Although some of
the team members are currently in treatment and over the
decade the team has been together, 8 women have died, Fern
still thinks they are fortunate. "We are a team, working
hard, gasping for air, and smiling cheek to cheek." Every
time the team goes out and they face the beautiful Portland
city skyline, Fern will say, "We are the luckiest women in
Portland."
